The term “superhuman” is being applied to artificial intelligence (AI). Why? Because it uses everything that is uploaded and produces things far more quickly than any human or group of humans could. Imagine being familiar with every article on Wikipedia, every book ever written and the films based on it, every song on Spotify and YouTube, including every song rating, and every Facebook post, including every like and comment. Then, using all of this information, you produce a high-end product. This is done via AI. It examines everything! Even the stock market! It has the ability to produce TV shows that are more captivating than anything Netflix has ever produced. It can produce art, music, and software. It is also capable of self-learning, thus creating even better art, music, software, money, etc.
This raises a lot of questions, like: Will my career end? Should I stop writing altogether? Will AI be able to cure cancer? Will there be robots everywhere? etc.
This also leads to many thoughts: It’s not alive. It can’t love. It doesn’t have a soul.
The world is about to change, and soon. Are we prepared for this change? There are so many conflicting thoughts and emotions around the world, and it seems to be getting worse. This topic of AI, too, is controversial! I also question whether, behind the scenes, artificial intelligence contributed to this increase in conflict during this the past decade. Yes, a lot of people are awakening—living in present moment awareness, embracing empathy and love, and putting out positive energy. Let’s continue to do this. It’s important to stay hopeful.
Governments take a long time to enact laws and regulate things that need to be regulated because of the excessive amount of red tape. Science and technology have advanced more quickly than the law. Just think of how much slower AI regulation will be. For example, safety, patents, and copyright restrictions.
We might be tempted to ignore change, get a home in the country, and live off the grid rather than think about it. I think a home in the country sounds great, but for different reasons.
I still believe there is an art to everything, even using AI. I will put my trust in God instead of fear.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Also, I plan to carry out my own AI experiment. At some point this year, I will share this process here on Twilight Letters. For now, I hope you enjoyed reading my initial thoughts on AI. But, stay tuned!
Love,
Tracy
