(Poem of the Week)

Waning moon

toward the new

A dark All Hallows’ Eve

The spirits roam

through whispered breeze

black cats hide

black shadows float

zig-zaging

down the street.

A zombie, a prince,

a pretty pirate

speak the trick-or-treat.

In my conical hat

I’m in the back

Setting the birds free.

Fire burns

Cauldron stirred

Herbs and oil

No trouble no toil

Just apple cider

spiked with myrrh

and a little smoking tree.

Take a sip

Sing a song

Say a spell

Pray a prayer

Whatever way

Dance ‘round and ‘round

Celebrate

Remembering

The loved ones past

are free.

New moon was

no looking back

Step out into the day

As you can see

the seasons show

the end can be

just as beautiful

as the blooming buds of Spring.
