“Dreams come to tell us something about our lives that we are missing.” —James Redfield
Imagine living on a ten-acre farm near an old forest or a mountain range. There’s a field of lavender next to the barn, a bird feeder sparkling in the sun, frogs chirping from the pond, and a well pump painted green. Flourishing vegetables and a chicken coop supply you with delicious food. You’ve grown a thriving herb garden for cooking and making your own essential oils, perhaps selling those oils at the local shop.
Or maybe you are seaside in a hammock, soaking up the sun, waiting for evening to come. Singing at a tiki hut, strummin’ a six-string, drinking free beer. A lovely lady in blue, or a handsome bachelor eyes you while another passerby drops a hundred-dollar bill into the pitcher that holds your tips. Then you get invited to spend the evening at a party on their ship.
Be it extravagant or minimalist, we all have dreams. They don’t always come true, but they sure are fun. Some dreams don’t involve money. Some do. If you’re not wealthy, aside from working your ass off forty hours a week and saving, winning the lottery, or inheriting, it’s not always easy. But we should never stop dreaming. In fact, we should keep dreaming if we want anything like it to come true. And take baby steps, because we need action, too.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve moved past the fear of change and into embracing life. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy and content right now. But that doesn’t mean I should be stagnant, not do something new. I could take a class, and I will likely do so. But, I have learned that the right timing isn’t something you decide. Not entirely anyway. You have to pay attention to the promptings.
The rhythm of the day prompted me to buy a ukelele. Since then I have learned three songs.
My mom gave me a set of CDs—so, I’m also relearning Spanish.
I want to live a life where there is mystery in my existence, appreciating how beautiful and spiritual the natural world really is, working enough to earn, writing more, and pursuing my purpose while living near an old forest or body of water (an energy field to help me evolve); but, also exploring, traveling, meeting new people—but not too many people (I prefer small groups).
I believe we should stretch our faith. God loves us so much! Even if you’re not a religious person, there is a universal energy you can feel that can be a guide for you. For instance, science has proven that energy medicine such as qigong, reiki, therapeutic touch and human universal energy is effective and they can be highly influential treatments for many ailments. But more than that, love itself is energy.
We build energy and receive intuitive guidance as synchronicities, allowing us to flow in the direction we should. This helps us grow. I’ve learned, however, that going with the flow isn’t the complete answer. You have to create flow. You have to keep in mind what’s important to you. And follow other guidance, like sleep dreams, for instance. If you ask the right question, the right answer will come.
I hadn’t had a vacation in years and spent six months thinking about taking one. Rather than think of all the reasons why I shouldn’t I just let the thought linger until I felt a prompting. It was October and we were seemingly on our way into a recession, so work was slow in my day job. This was a good time to take off of work, and I wanted to start something new, something additional.
My mom is a National Deployment Officer for The Transportation and Security Administration. At the time, she was deployed to Ashville, North Carolina for the month. I've always wanted to see the Carolinas. She asked me to visit her. I could stay in her hotel room.
I realized I had a vacation fund that I had not touched in years. When I started it I had wanted to visit Fort Myers, FL, or Yellowstone National Park in Montana, or Colorado, or Maui. Then I got to dreaming about buying a conversion van, working from my van, and traveling the country. Imagine it . . . I pictured myself with a black German Shepard co-pilot and a hidden compartment for my CZ. The outside of my van would be painted a light color, and the inside would have a small bookshelf and bohemian pillows. See, dreaming is fun! However, these vans cost a lot. It might not be the right time for that, but it seemed to possibly be the right time for this vacation.
I’ve just listed three synchronicities. But there’s more.
One of my top three customers has their office in Charlotte, NC. I could visit them, bring them a gift and introduce myself in person. “I should talk to my accountant about that”, I thought. “It could be a possible partial write-off”. Coincidence? I think not.
Also, I have a few Facebook friends who live in North Carolina. One of them told me how wonderful it is because there are mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. I didn’t know this. Well, I did if I would look at a map, but I never thought about it. And who knows! Maybe I’d see my FB friends, but they are many hours’ drive from my destination. Or, maybe I’d meet some new friends. People do that when they travel alone. I watched Eat Pray Love.
I’ve been to Alaska and Arizona. I’d never been south. But I decided to go. I had not had a vacation with my mom since Alaska when I was fifteen. Now forty-nine, this made up my mind. Yes, she would be working, but I would arrive the day before her two days off (plus we'd have some time after work). I couldn’t wait to feel the energy of the land.
I stayed for six days. Mom and I had a wonderful time! We will never forget it. And I did meet a new friend, Dorothy. We all took in the majestic energy of the waterfalls, the woods, the mountains. Also, this vacation prompted me to start blogging.
A year later, still following the guidance, I took another six-day vacation. That time with a girlfriend. We went to Arizona and I was able to visit with my dad. Many questions were answered and resolved, and the vacation was filled with fun and peace. I also took a mini vacation to the U.P. of Michigan that Fall. I met Lake Superior. She was wonderful, powerful, cleansing. And, I fell in love with the land. This was last year.
Now, let’s see where the synchronicities lead me this year. I could stay home and garden. I could adopt a dog. I could . . . With God’s blessing, it will be a great year!
Love,
Tracy
